Abstract: This book offers a model for managing nonprofit organizations and illustrates it with several case studies. The strategy-structure- systems approach to managing a business enterprise is modified to include a purpose-process-people centered approach that is more relevant for nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit organizations need this modified approach because there are some fundamental differences between business and nonprofit organizations that are explained in the book. As the demand for essential social services is growing and the government budgets to provide such services are shrinking, there is a greater need for social enterprises to be managed more effectively and efficiently. Using case studies and theories of management, we offer a model that is relevant for anyone managing social enterprises.
